Welcome to my corner of the world! I’m C.T. Luna, and I’m genuinely thrilled you’re here to learn a bit more about the journey that led me to write Brown Beyond Borders: Emerging Into Golden Multidimensionality.
My life has unfolded across diverse landscapes and cultures, deeply shaping who I am and how I view the world around me.
I was born in Trinidad to a Swiss mother. My family and I eventually made our way to Washington, D.C., where I grew up. By the time I was one year old, I already held two passports—a phenomenon that was quite rare in the 1980s.
Though I didn’t know it at the time, this early exposure to differing worlds laid the foundation for a lifelong exploration of identity and belonging. My mixed heritage, with Black Caribbean and White European roots, meant I often found myself navigating spaces that tried to define me in neat, restrictive boxes. For years, I sought a place where I could truly be all of me: Trinidadian, Swiss, American-raised, European, Black, and—unabashedly—Brown.
My career, like my life, has spanned continents. Working in the United States as well as Switzerland has enriched my perspective, allowed me to experience cultures through different languages, and has immersed me in various traditions, rhythms, and ways of being.
This path has never been straightforward. And I learned early on not to expect it to be. There’ve been moments of laughter and meaningful connection, but there have been challenges too. The confounding realities of discrimination, microaggressions, and racism played their roles in chipping away at my self-worth and leaving me feeling diminished and out of sync with my authentic self. That is… until I came to understand that old prejudices and being “othered” had nothing to do with me and everything to do with systems designed to benefit a select few.
This realization sparked a deeper commitment within me to understand Who-I-Am at a deep level within. And my journey towards discovering my own Golden multidimensionality had me wanting to accompany other individuals who want to discover their own fullest potentials.
As an author, speaker, and advocate, my mission is to bridge cultural divides and create spaces where everyone feels seen and heard. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling—my own experiences formed the basis of Brown Beyond Borders: Emerging Into Golden Multidimensionality, where I share my journey as honestly as I could. I hope through my story, readers gain insight to navigate their own paths to self-discovery and empowerment.
This book has become my self-love story, born from the moment I stopped trying to fit in and started embracing my Golden Multidimensionality.
Beyond my writing, I am an avid traveler, a lifelong learner, and a firm believer in the importance of human connection. I continue to explore new cultures, seeking to understand different perspectives and share my findings.
